Angela has a chest infection. She sounds like she has been hiding a pack-a-day habit from us for the last seven months. We don’t know what it is, but it is most likely a bug graciously given to her (and me!) by her older sister. We took her into the hospital because we thought she might be in pain.

The Emergency department was CRAZILY BUSY. It’s winter so just about every child in Sydney has some kind of lurgy. Despite a long line, we were triaged straight away because Angela carries (or at least has carried in the past) a “super bug”.* This meant she was able to get on IV anti-biotics (and see our doctor) quite quickly. But because of this bug she requires an isolation bed and there were none in the hospital. Apparently this condition has it’s own name – “Bed Block”

After 24 hours in the emergency department without Ange getting any worse we decided to come home on oral anti-biotics. Let me tell you my own bed has never felt soooooooo good!

* Please don’t freak out over this and totally avoid us! Apparently there is no test to ‘clear’ her of this bug, so even though she may not have it anymore, she still technically has it. It’s only a concern in hospitals and if you are really worried, wash your hands after you see us – that’s what the nurses do.
